How the New Google Business Profile and GA4 Integration Improves Local Marketing Measurement

22th July, 2026

Google has begun rolling out a new integration between Google Business Profile (GBP) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4), giving marketers a more connected view of how customers interact with local listings and websites. While the update is particularly useful for understanding the customer journey, enterprise organisations should view it as a complement to existing reporting rather than a replacement.

What’s New?

Businesses can now connect their Google Business Profile to GA4 and view key Business Profile engagement metrics alongside website analytics. According to Google’s documentation, supported metrics include phone calls, website clicks, direction requests, messages, bookings and menu clicks. The integration helps marketers better understand how local search contributes to website traffic and customer engagement.

Why It Matters

For many marketers, local engagement and website analytics have traditionally lived in separate reporting tools. Bringing Business Profile interactions into GA4 makes it easier to understand the role local search plays in the customer journey. While the current integration does not provide location-level reporting for multi-location brands, it reflects Google’s continued investment in creating a more connected measurement ecosystem.

Kyle’s Take

“This integration is a positive step toward connecting local engagement with broader marketing performance. It gives marketers more visibility into how customers interact with their Business Profiles, but enterprise organisations still need additional reporting, like ranking reports, competitive analysis and others to understand performance across individual markets. This should be viewed as an enhancement to existing reporting, not a replacement.”Kyle Harris, Director of Local Optimization, DAC

Looking Ahead

As Google continues to connect its marketing products, marketers can expect local engagement data to become increasingly integrated with broader performance reporting. Businesses that already have strong measurement frameworks in place will be best positioned to take advantage of these new capabilities.
