Today we are introducing our latest recruit to the team: Rachel Davies, who is joining us as a Paid Media Executive.

ES: Who are you?

RD: I am the new Paid Media Executive at DAC Edinburgh! I’m originally from a small town called Castle Douglas in the South West of Scotland and moved to Edinburgh to study in 2010. After graduating in 2014, I’ve worked in digital ever since and now I’m here at DAC!

ES: What did you do before you came to DAC?

RD: For the last 2 years I worked in the Digital Production team at a digital agency called Multiply. I was involved with many types of digital projects from managing web builds, providing technical project management on the agency’s larger accounts, data analysis, social media strategy and implementation, analytics using Google and SiteCatalyst and paid media

ES: How did you get interested in digital?

RD: I kind of fell into digital during my third year at University. I studied Business Studies at Edinburgh Napier and my third year was an industrial placement, which was my main reason to study there. I got my placement in the Digital team at Tayburn, a branding and design agency, and fell in love with the world of digital…and numbers! I really enjoyed my time there learning about agency life as well as on the job knowledge so when I finished my placement over a year later, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

ES: Why DAC?

RD: My previous role at Multiply was very general and covered a wide range of digital work and I wanted to specialise in paid media as it’s the area I loved the most. DAC had that opportunity on a wider range of clients in sectors that I’d not worked on before, which was really exiting! After meeting the team, I loved the culture and the work ethic and now here I am!

ES: Where do you see yourself in five years?

RD: Hopefully still working in digital! I’d love to do a stint abroad at some point so who knows where I’ll be in 5 years.

ES: What’s your favourite thing you’ve worked on so far?

RD: This would have to be the Hotel Chocolat paid account. I love being able to see how paid media impacts the shopper journey from initial search through to purchase.

ES: What are you looking forward to most working at DAC?

RD: The diversity of client sectors. There are a few industries that I’ve not worked on so I’m excited to jump in at the deep end!

ES: Favourite food?

RD: Pad thai.

ES: Special talent?

RD: I wouldn’t say special, but I’m the lead tenor drummer for a Grade 2 pipe band called Balagan, who are based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

ES: Surprising secret?

RD: In 2016, I won the title of RSPBA Adult Tenor Drummer Champion for Lothian and Borders branch and got a big trophy to fill my mantelpiece.
