DAC’s acquisition of Make It Rain the first step into the European market

Make It Rain has been acquired by the North American digital agency DAC. DAC officially acquired Make It Rain – who will continue to operate under the same name – in April 2015. DAC DAC was founded in 1972 as a directional advertising agency. Since then, the group has grown to eight offices across North America. They offer high-level, client-focussed digital-marketing solutions with a strong technological focus. Celebrating its 43rd year DAC started life as a print-based directory agency that has continually diversified to maintain the standards expected from their clients. They are now one of the lead digital agencies in North America. They plan to bring this expertise to the UK and Europe by enhancing Make It Rain’s service portfolio to deliver more localised targeting within the UK via access to the group’s pre-existing technologies. CEO and Managing Partner, Norm Hagarty, who has been at the reigns since 2000 after joining the company in 1996, heads up the DAC. Joining DAC as President of Europe will be David Jowett who will head up operations in the group’s first foray into Europe.   Norm made the following statement regarding the acquisition:

“We're bringing something really new to the digital landscape in the UK. With scale and capability we will be able to accelerate our momentum and strengthen our position in the global marketplace, our customer proposition is at the heart of this combination. By extending our geo-local focus and tech applications to clients in the UK we'll significantly enhance digital experiences for consumers of the brands our agencies represent. We are extremely happy to welcome Make It Rain and its talented people to the DAC network.”

Mike Fantis and Luke Regan will retain on-the-ground operational control of Make It Rain’s day-to-day. They will take up the roles of VP Managing Partners. The rest of the office will structurally remain much the same, with clients still communicating with their current points of contact. Mike Fantis had the following to say about the acquisition:

“For Make It Rain’s clients, this transaction provides significant and immediate value, in the form of access to digital innovation and international expertise.  This union provides a new level of service to our clients and tremendous opportunities for career advancement and skill diversification for employees as we grow together.”

While Luke Regan said:

“When we first met the team at DAC it was clear that they share our values: placing superior client performance, insight and great people at the centre of everything they do. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to bring their truly differentiated technology and approach to our UK and European clients.”

To echo their points this is a fantastic opportunity for our existing and future clients, as well as everyone at Make It Rain. We will be offering a host of improved analytical and technological services such as Local Listings Management (LLM), a means of efficiently maintaining and managing local listings on the major search engines, and PAGEtorrentTM, a DAC-trademarked technology that generates an almost limitless number of unique landing pages to better convert organic traffic, which we look forward to introducing to all of our clients. Any current clients who have any questions about the acquisition or these exciting new services, do not hesitate to get in contact with your relevant account manager. Or if you’re new to Make It Rain and are interested in how we can help your brand better connect with buyers, you can contact us here, or give us a call on 020 7618 3800.
