Google appears to be experimenting with a new structured review format, specifically tailored to service-based businesses such as restoration companies and personal trainers. In this test, users leaving a review are prompted with specific service-related questions—for example, selecting which service was provided (e.g., Flood Cleanup, Mold Inspection) and optionally rating elements like price satisfaction.  While similar formats are already common in restaurant reviews, this marks the first time we’re seeing structured prompts expand into non-retail, service-focused categories. Why It Matters More Structured Data in Reviews: These fields introduce richer, more searchable metadata into review content—ideal for AI and machine learning systems. Enhanced AI Summaries: With clearly labeled service types and ratings, Google could create more precise review summaries and better match searcher intent. Service-Specific Signals: Having customers clarify what service they received could help filter or prioritize reviews based on relevance in search. What You Can Do Monitor Your Reviews: Watch for new structured review formats appearing in your vertical. Encourage Detailed Feedback: When asking for reviews, prompt customers to include specifics about the service they received. Optimize Your GBP Categories: Ensure your services are accurately listed in your Google Business Profile to align with how users may be prompted to review you.
