Elle nous aide \u00e0 r\u00e9diger des courriels, \u00e0 concevoir des publicit\u00e9s et \u00e0 mieux comprendre nos clients. Sa puissance est impressionnante, et elle ne cesse de grandir. Mais un risque majeur, dont on parle encore trop peu, menace de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement son efficacit\u00e9, au point de rendre certains outils presque inutilisables. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne porte un nom technique : le <em><a href=\"https:\/\/jolt.law.harvard.edu\/digest\/model-collapse-and-the-right-to-uncontaminated-human-generated-data\">model collapse<\/a><\/em>, ou effondrement des mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais concr\u00e8tement, de quoi s\u2019agit-il\u202f? Imaginez une photo magnifique. Vous en faites une copie \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019une photocopieuse. La premi\u00e8re copie est fid\u00e8le, presque identique \u00e0 l\u2019original. Puis vous copiez cette copie. Et encore, et encore. \u00c0 chaque reproduction, l\u2019image perd un peu de sa nettet\u00e9, les couleurs s\u2019alt\u00e8rent. Au bout d\u2019un certain nombre de duplications, on ne distingue m\u00eame plus la photo de d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est exactement ce qui pourrait arriver \u00e0 l\u2019IA. Aujourd\u2019hui, nous n\u2019en sommes qu\u2019aux premi\u00e8res g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de copies, les effets restent donc discrets, mais le processus est bel et bien enclench\u00e9. Au d\u00e9part, ces contenus \u00e9taient presque enti\u00e8rement produits par des humains. Mais aujourd\u2019hui, une grande partie du web est remplie de textes g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s ou traduits par d\u2019autres IA. Une \u00e9tude datant d\u2019un an estimait d\u00e9j\u00e0 que <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com.au\/news\/innovation\/is-ai-quietly-killing-itself-and-the-internet\/\">57 % des textes en ligne provenaient d\u2019une intelligence artificielle<\/a>. On peut donc raisonnablement penser que ce chiffre est encore plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le probl\u00e8me, c\u2019est que les nouveaux mod\u00e8les apprennent d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 partir de contenus produits par d\u2019anciens mod\u00e8les. Comme pour la m\u00e9taphore de la photo, on ne travaille plus \u00e0 partir de l\u2019original, mais \u00e0 partir de copies, puis de copies de copies. \u00c0 chaque g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, la qualit\u00e9 se d\u00e9grade. L\u2019IA perd en pr\u00e9cision, oublie des nuances, commence \u00e0 produire des erreurs. C\u2019est ce qu\u2019on appelle le <em>model collapse<\/em> : une forme d\u2019auto-d\u00e9gradation, o\u00f9 l\u2019IA finit par se nourrir de ses propres productions,au risque de tourner en rond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019impact du <em>model collapse<\/em> sur les sp\u00e9cialistes du marketing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourquoi devriez-vous, en tant que sp\u00e9cialiste du marketing, vous en pr\u00e9occuper\u202f? Parce que ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne va avoir un impact direct, et imminent, sur notre travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commen\u00e7ons par Google. Le moteur de recherche int\u00e8gre d\u00e9sormais l\u2019intelligence artificielle pour afficher des r\u00e9ponses directement dans les r\u00e9sultats, via une fonctionnalit\u00e9 appel\u00e9e \u00ab <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/websearch\/answer\/14901683?hl=en\">AI Overviews <\/a>\u00bb. Pour offrir des r\u00e9ponses pertinentes, cette IA a besoin de contenus fiables, originaux et de qualit\u00e9 pr\u00e9sents sur le web. Mais que se passera-t-il lorsque ces contenus seront en grande partie remplac\u00e9s par des textes g\u00e9n\u00e9riques g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par d\u2019autres IA\u202f? Les r\u00e9ponses fournies deviendront moins justes, moins nuanc\u00e9es, et souvent r\u00e9p\u00e9titives. L\u2019outil commencera \u00e0 relayer de fausses informations ou des banalit\u00e9s, et les utilisateurs risquent, \u00e0 terme, de ne plus faire confiance \u00e0 Google. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les professionnels du marketing, c\u2019est un enjeu de taille. Si nos sites deviennent plus difficiles \u00e0 trouver, notre trafic en p\u00e2tira directement. Des \u00e9tudes indiquent d\u00e9j\u00e0 que lorsque l\u2019IA propose une r\u00e9ponse en haut de page, tr\u00e8s peu d\u2019utilisateurs prennent la peine de cliquer sur les liens vers les sites web. Une analyse a m\u00eame montr\u00e9 qu\u2019un site peut perdre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2025\/jul\/24\/ai-summaries-causing-devastating-drop-in-online-news-audiences-study-finds\">jusqu\u2019\u00e0 79 % de son trafic sur une requ\u00eate, si ses r\u00e9sultats sont rel\u00e9gu\u00e9s sous un encadr\u00e9 AI Overview<\/a>. C\u2019est une menace r\u00e9elle pour le SEO et les strat\u00e9gies de contenu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Autre sujet de pr\u00e9occupation : la publicit\u00e9 payante. Beaucoup d\u2019annonceurs s\u2019appuient sur la programmatique pour diffuser leurs messages aux bonnes audiences. Or, la prolif\u00e9ration de contenus g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par l\u2019IA a entra\u00een\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9mergence de milliers de faux sites, souvent appel\u00e9s sites \u00ab MFA \u00bb (<em>made for advertising<\/em>), con\u00e7us uniquement pour accumuler les revenus publicitaires. Ces plateformes sont satur\u00e9es d\u2019articles sans int\u00e9r\u00eat et de banni\u00e8res envahissantes. D\u2019apr\u00e8s un rapport, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcontentnext.org\/blog\/2023\/06\/27\/programmatic-advertising-has-a-quality-problem\/\">15 % des budgets programmatiques seraient gaspill\u00e9s sur ces sites de pi\u00e8tre qualit\u00e9<\/a>. Autrement dit, nos annonces s\u2019affichent sur des pages que personne ne lit vraiment, et une part non n\u00e9gligeable de nos investissements part en fum\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans le m\u00eame temps, <a href=\"https:\/\/digiday.com\/media-buying\/doubleverify-report-ad-fraud-schemes-using-generative-ai-will-increase-in-scale-sophistication\/\">certains acteurs malintentionn\u00e9s exploitent l\u2019IA pour orchestrer des fraudes publicitaires<\/a>. Ils cr\u00e9ent de faux profils, g\u00e9n\u00e8rent de faux clics et simulent de l\u2019engagement artificiel. R\u00e9sultat : il devient de plus en plus difficile de savoir si nos publicit\u00e9s atteignent r\u00e9ellement de vrais consommateurs. Le <em>model collapse<\/em> ne fait qu\u2019aggraver le probl\u00e8me, car les IA que nous utilisons pour cibler nos campagnes s\u2019entra\u00eenent \u00e0 leur tour sur des donn\u00e9es biais\u00e9es. Dressez une liste de sites en lesquels vous avez confiance et configurez votre plateforme pour que vos publicit\u00e9s y soient diffus\u00e9es exclusivement. Et surtout, demandez plus de transparence sur les emplacements, les audiences et les performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u00e8re de l\u2019IA ouvre des perspectives passionnantes, mais elle comporte aussi son lot de risques. Remettre certaines choses en question et se pr\u00e9parer aux d\u00e9rives possibles ne fait pas de vous un opposant \u00e0 l\u2019intelligence artificielle, au contraire. Cela fait de vous un professionnel lucide et responsable, un v\u00e9ritable atout pour votre marque et vos clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais ne vous y trompez pas : le <em>model collapse<\/em> peut sembler anodin aujourd\u2019hui, mais ses effets se font sentir un peu plus chaque jour. En tant que professionnels du marketing, il est essentiel de comprendre ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne et d\u2019ajuster nos strat\u00e9gies en cons\u00e9quence. L\u2019avenir ne r\u00e9compensera pas ceux qui produisent le plus de contenu avec l\u2019IA, mais ceux qui sauront cr\u00e9er les contenus les plus fiables, authentiques et porteurs de sens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mon conseil : faites de la qualit\u00e9 et de la confiance vos priorit\u00e9s. Est-ce que mon anglais rivalise avec celui des derniers mod\u00e8les d\u2019IA ultra-performants ? Probablement pas. Mais c\u2019est justement dans nos imperfections et notre singularit\u00e9 que se trouve la vraie richesse de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience humaine.
