The events, connected by <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.google.com\/dlpage\/hangoutplugin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google+ Hangout<\/a>,\u00a0brought over 250 Google Engage members together\u00a0to share their experience advertising\u00a0with Google platforms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Google Engage Toronto Venue\" src=\"\/wpe-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Google-Engage-Toronto-0031.jpg\" width=\"433\" height=\"302\" \/> <i>Images courtesy of Google Canada<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/en-gb\/\">DAC<\/a> representatives were invited to join panels in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver to provide their <a href=\"\/en-gb\/services\/strategic-insights\/\">industry insight<\/a> and\u00a0Google expertise. The panel discussions focused on digital advertising trends, how to market your agency, challenges faced by digital advertising agencies and the future of the digital advertising industry in Canada (mobile was a HUGE point of discussion). The venues provided an intimate feel, which I think promoted more sharing among the groups, and the Google+ Hangout made it feel like we were all at one large event. The afternoon\u00a0featured group brainstorm sessions and presentations from Google representatives, who shared some great statistics about the Canadian search landscape. A few\u00a0statistics to note\u00a0from the Google presentations included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canadians are one of the highest users of the internet \u2014 80% online, 80%\u00a0with broadband.<\/li>\n<li>There are 4.8 billion searches per month in Canada alone.<\/li>\n<li>7.9 billion videos are being watched by Canadians every month.<\/li>\n<li>Canadians use their smartphones: 97% at home, 83% on the go and 77% in the store.<\/li>\n<li>79% of Canadian don&#8217;t leave home without their smartphone.<\/li>\n<li>16% of daily queries on Google have never been searched before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Google ended the day with a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bViVGkUXACE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">concert<\/a>&#8221; over Google+ Hangout\u00a0(AMAZING)\u00a0and cake (YUM!)\u00a0to celebrate the first birthday of Google&#8217;s Engage program.\u00a0For those of you that don&#8217;t know about Google Engage for Agencies, it&#8217;s a free program launched last year designed to help agencies master marketing on Google. Members of Google Engage have access to free training, exclusive tools and all the guidance and support they need to help clients with more effective <a href=\"\/?p=20\">Search Engine Marketing<\/a> (SEM).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Google Engage Concert\" src=\"\/wpe-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Google-Engage-Concert.jpg\" width=\"433\" height=\"302\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All in all the day, full of insightful learning, was a lot of fun and provided a great opportunity to network with fellow agencies and industry experts.
